Suggest a Class
For 2007, HUD's Office of Affordable Housing Programs will deliver national CPD Training Institute HOME courses via a demand-response delivery system. This system will work as follows:
- PJs review their training needs and the course catalogue and assess which courses would be most useful to their staff and nonprofits. Use this online registration website to review course descriptions and agendas. The CPD Training Institute can deliver a training session in any location and PJs are encouraged to coordinate with one another to suggest a training for their entire region or for a group of PJs. Possible examples include delivering courses at regional community development conferences or for a State and all of its State HOME recipients. The suggesting PJ and HUD Field Office must ensure that at least 25 PJ and/or nonprofit representatives will attend the course. In addition, it is preferred that the suggesting PJ or the Field Office find free public meeting space and audio visual for the training delivery. This helps to keep the training delivery costs down and enables HUD to offer additional courses.
- PJs submit suggestions to their local HUD Field Office for the national courses they think should be delivered in the region. The suggestions should be submitted to the PJ's local HUD Community Planning and Development Representative. If you do not know your CPD Representative, you can find contact information on the following website: http://www.hud.gov/offices/cpd/about/staff/fodirectors/index.cfm.
All suggestions for training courses need to be submitted via your local HUD Field Office.
- The Field Office reviews the PJ training submissions and its own assessment of training needs and submits a suggestion for up to three courses to HUD's Headquarters Office of Affordable Housing.
- HUD's Office of Affordable Housing equitably allocates the available national deliveries across Field Offices. Note that there are only a very limited number of national training sessions available and so PJs and Field Offices are encouraged to submit their suggestions early. For training suggestions that cannot be filled under the national CPD Training Institute, the local HUD Field Office may be able to deliver the course using its Field Office technical assistance providers.
- Upon approval by HUD Headquarters, HUD's contractor will work with the local Field Office to select the training course dates and locations. These dates and locations will be advertised on this CPD Training Institute website. Although preference will be given to eligible participants from the suggesting Field Office region, any PJ or HOME-eligible nonprofit can register to attend any class nationwide.
Please note that there are no additional deliveries of Basically CDBG or the State CDBG IDIS course that are available under the Demand Respond process. So, review your local HOME training needs and the available training courses and contact your HUD Field Office representative today!
